Interview to Simon Fernandez-Salvador

This is an very good known rider of horse. He is first on both national and provincial rankings. Our theme is about drug testing on both, Summer and Winter Olympics. We have two topics that we talk about. Are the persons that are going to compete have to be told or not. Well let´s see what our interview tells about.

Good evening, have you thought about this theme? Explain please.

Yes, because we were talking about Maradona, and he wasn´t a good example for us about drug using.

In your case, if you were participating in the Olympics as we all know that, that is your goal, what would you do, if they just ask for doing a drug test for you and your horse?

I´d accept because if you are doped you shouldn´t win and learn about the consequences of using this.

If you actually doped your horse, or even yourself what would you answer them in that case?

If… I would tell them that.. em.. Well the thing is that they would expulse you.. and… if you say the truth… you.. would be known as a person that did a mistake.. and that wouldn´t be so good seen. To say the truth I would tell them to mind their own business. But, that is not the case.. So I wouldn´t know what to do.

What do you think would be the best resolution, or the best idea to protect the privacy, but have the drug testing work, and find the ones that drugged themselves.

If you want to enter in the paddock or to the place where you compete, then you have to do the test, and everyone does.

And do you, finally, think that there should be a random testing? Do you think it´s good or not? Or do you think, that everybody should do it?

Everybody. It might be because the committee think that the runner or the rider, is sympathetic and don´t take the test. And that, is unacceptable.

Thank you very much and hope that I can interview you another time.
